Top 10 Albums of 2015

As we come to the inevitable end of a year, it's a natural thing for us as human beings to reflect upon all the great things that happened.

Today, we're reflecting on the top 10 albums (according to us) that were undeniable bangerz and hits from the moment it dropped out of the musical heavens above in the year 2015. I'm also listing 3 MUST HEAR tracks from each album to hopefully get you hooked the same way I did.

So without further ado, let's start the countdown!

10. Rebel Heart by Madonna

If I'm being completely honest, I'm not the biggest Madge fan musically or personally because I don't find her THAT amazing as everybody else does. I'm aware of how Iconic she is and she does claim that she's Living for Love so I have to admire that. This album though is in my opinion her best work to date. She keeps her sex pistols ablaze and controversial shtick on handy as she always has, but in such a modern sense that makes everything seems right while staying true to the Madonna that we all know and kinda love. Regardless of it's endless leakage prior to the release, Rebel Heart is a true pop album with hits galore that at first struck me as an overdone cry for help as the Vogue vocalist trying to stay relevant, but after a few listens, it's pretty amazing.

09. Reflection by Fifth Harmony

Aside from the fact that if I hear Worth It one more time I might attack somebody, it's undeniable the Fab Five known as Fifth Harmony knew exactly what they were doing when making this pop confection. However, it'd be a bit misleading to just classify the Sledgehammer housed album Reflection as merely just a pop album considering the girls sample many other types of genres and stylings on tracks such as Suga Mama, We Know, and the empowering Meghan Trainor assisted bonus track Brave Honest Beautiful. Though the album is a bit timed rather than timeless with the slang and quirk of tracks like Them Girls Be Like, I've definitely bumped this album for much of 2015's intro and it's indefinitely a hit.

08. Purpose by Justin Bieber

Bieber and Madonna shared about the same musical appreciation from me, which was basically little to none and my iTunes library can prove this, but aside from previous jumps, Purpose was definitely a reinvention of the Biebs that got me to become a Belieber, if that's still even a thing. Thanks to the help of Skrillex, his new dance/pop/R&B/island sound is just everything and then some. Not to mention we see him grow lyrically through the likes of Love Yourself and I'll Show You, and his sound just matured tenfold through Company and the Big Sean collaborated hit No Pressure

07. Deadroses by Blackbear

Probably little to none of you really know about Blackbear considering he isn't really that mainstream by comparison to some of the other contenders on this list, but his beautiful collection of songs on Deadroses makes up for his lack of notoriety. Like most of the albums on this list, I had to give it a few listens before I absolutely fell in love with not just one track, but the entire album. It started with me stumbling upon Ain't Trippin' (pun intended) and it was so different as far as the track's production goes for an R&B track and it even samples an older track that doesn't come to mind at the end of the song, which ties the whole thing together and it's just a masterpiece. Then you have the perfectly titled 90210 for when you're cruising down the 90210, and other tracks like Idfc & My Heart Is Lost that tells his tales of love, fame, money, and everything in between the lions.

06. Delirium by Ellie Goulding

After 3 long years (2 if you considered the re-up Halcyon Days) since the Lights chanteuse Ellie Goulding released her smash-hit sophomore album Halcyon, she came back with this beautifully crafted masterpiece known as Delirium. With this album, Ellie took her sound in a completely different direction than her previous album and I'm not complaining because I definitely love this album much more than the latter. Her instrumentals are so unique on tracks like Keep On Dancin', I Do What I Love, & We Can't Move To This. Then you have her angelic vocals that range on her balladry and bangerz, you get everything that you want and everything that you absolutely need.

05. Revival by Selena Gomez

Our Pop Princess graced us musically once again this year with some of her best tracks to date. Revival was a reinvention and rebirth of the Naturally angelic and beautiful soul that is Selena Gomez. This was definitely her most personal and raw Pop record to date, and I'm not just saying that because she bares all on the cover, but because her lyrics dig deeper than we've ever seen before as she unleashes to the world her stories of struggle, love, heartbreak, and all the emotions of a maturing woman. She's definitely grown a lot more since her previous record Stars Dance and much like her ex boo-thang the Biebs, her sound has grown with her and every single track from the uplifting Rise to the sexy Body Heat to the self-inflicting Perfect to the empowering Me & My Girls, this album reveals more pieces to Selena than we've ever seen before and it's more than we could ever ask for.

04. E•MO•TION by Carly Rae Jepsen

Last I checked it was 2015, but Miss Carly Rae Jepsen seems to think otherwise when she created this magical Pop album known as E•MO•TION. C Jepsen blasts us to the past with her retro-inspired sounds on basically the whole album and it really shows that she has perfected her own unique stylings since her previous record Kiss. Words can not do justice with all that is right about this album and the mental state that it puts you in. On tracks like E•MO•TION, I Didn't Just Come Here to Dance, and I Really Like You, you get these really upbeat dance kind of vibes that make you feel some kind of way and makes you want to invest in a time machine pronto. Then you have tracks like Warm Blood that features a darker sense of the senses with it's electronic pulses and unconventional hooks that just takes you out of this world. Such a goodie.

03. Cry Baby by Melanie Martinez

If mainstream isn't your thing and you're looking for something that's unusual and different, then the Cry Baby herself is exactly what you need in your life. Miss Melanie Martinez is in a niche of her own and creates the most beautifully dark stories that corrupts all that is innocent to your childhood, but in the best way possible. Her debut album is chocked full of double entedres galore. For example, Training Wheels is about sex, Mrs. Potato Head is her nod to plastic surgery, and her smash-hit Dollhouse is about people only seeing what's on the surface and not what's really behind the curtains of her messed up family's life. The volumes that this album speaks are momentous and the storybook that accompanies the physical copy of the album is everything and more as it illustrates every track to it's full potential and puts the puzzle pieces of her story all together.

 02. Not An Apology by Bea Miller

Coming down to the wire, we have the teen angst soaked anthem collective that is Miss Bea Miller's Not An Apology. Can I first off start by saying that she's younger than me and currently winning at life? This Young Blood knew exactly how to make an unapologetic album the right way and its the absolute Perfect Picture for the start of her career. All her tracks radiate with this sense of rebelliousness and a big "fuck you" kind of attitude, but not at all in a vulgar way. She preaches so much truth and relatability and it culminates that ideal album that everybody will remember jamming to in the years to come. There's no doubt in Bea when she says We're Taking Over because she is a Force of Nature that is yet to be trifled with.

01. BADLANDS by Halsey

And we made it! Clocking in as the top spot epitome of 2015 albums comes the one and only Halsey and her story known as the BADLANDS. Aside from the fact that I'm stoked to be seeing her perform in January, I'm even more excited about the tracks that compose her debut record. She classifies her sound as Alternative (according to iTunes), but it's much more than just one genre. Each track samples various sounds and uniquely belong to one another in a very special and harmonious way. You take this musical joyride through every track that leaves you begging for more. Her voice is a gift of the gods and her lyrics, sound, and image all simmers down to pure artistry in motion. With hit tracks like Ghost, New Americana, and Colors to name a few, you get these Haunting vibes that resonates deep within to your core and question the very existence of life on earth. It's that good.
