HOT RIGHT NOW - American Oxygen
Looks like Miss Fenty's Navy just got their orders for their upcoming mission.
Welcome to today's installment of Hot Right Now, and the track that I think is on fire today is none other than the Diamonds vocalist Rihanna's new single off of her much anticipated #R8 project titled American Oxygen. Today saw the release of the video for the single.
Just as a side note, the video itself actually takes an interesting perspective of the track. You see both sides of the "American Dream" with those that prosper and those that were segregated and plagued with injustices in the home of the brave and free. Then as the video progresses, the effect of seeing that "this is the new America, We are the new America" is very much known as we see unity and equality begin to prosper. (Well played Miss Fenty)

Rihanna pays homage to the great US of A with this track and it's a continuation of this new experimental feat that the singer has been testing out with her new sounds. This track has a heavier dubstep influence like her previous Red Lipstick had shown off her Talk That Talk project. For somebody that wants to make timeless music, you'd figure the lyrics would've been a bit more complex and well, not so repetitive on the track, but this new musical direction of hers is a bit too edgy perhaps.
First came the acoustified FourFiveSeconds, which is undoubtedly catchy and puts her vocals front and center, but also was not the approach fans expected with her new music considering the teasers she released on her Instagram page. Following that came the release of Bitch Better Have My Money, which all I can say is...eyebrows...Considering Riri is a pop artist, seeing her release a full-fledged hip-hop influenced track is interesting, but I'm not completely sold on it's concept. Speaking of concepts, what's with the brail on every single artwork?
Still no word on the album's title or release date, but these singles that the artist continues to release might be slandering the credibility of it's housing album.
