ARIANATORS vs HARMONIZERS

Gather round children of all ages as a tremendous battle is about to take place in the first installment of BATTLE OF THE SINGLES, where we contend two artist's singles against each other and find out who reigns supreme!

Today's set of divas is fitting as both sides released new singles today (May 6th, 2016) and not only that, but they both were supposed to release their brand new upcoming albums on the same day as well.

Firstly, we have the Star Studded Starbucks drink affiliate and Break Free chanteuse Ariana Grande with her brand new single Into You off of her upcoming third album Dangerous Woman set for release on May 20th

Opposing her is the Femme Fatale quintet and Reflection connoisseurs Fifth Harmony with their brand new single Write On Me off of their upcoming sophomore project titled 7/27 in honor of the date they assembled and as mentioned earlier, it was set to release on the same day as Ari's album, but they pushed it back a week to make the numbers align (though I'm still wondering why they don't just wait to release it on that day...but then that'd be a longer wait time...carry on).

Now let's break down this cat fight by reviewing each track individually and see who comes out victorious! Let's begin with Ari's Into You.

Take a listen below.

Much like the rest of the buzz that previously released singles Be Alright, Let Me Love You, and the housing project's title track Dangerous Woman promise, Into You is nothing short of another smash hit as it opens with some pulsating bass and the Problem singer's angelic voice harmonizing over  the instrumental (She just stunned her opponents with their own specialty...yikes!). I know I personally couldn't stop myself from shaking it left and right to the beat.

Then as the song progresses, we smash into the chorus and she let's us have it! Everything gives me life! Then if we look at the lyrics, we see a much more mature Ari dive further into this sensual joyride that she's had us on since The Weeknd assisted track Love Me Harder. Humming to the tune of...

"so baby come light me up, and maybe I'll let you on it, a little bit dangerous, but baby that's how I want it, a little less conversation and a little more touch my body."

Miss Grande is surely holding true to the theme of Dangerous Woman as we see her grow from the girl who sang The Way with Mac Miller fresh out of Nickelodeon to this glamazonian princess in her natural state of being. Surely the Harmonizers have some competition!

Now it's Fifth Harmony's turn to try and go for the knockout!

Take a listen below.

In a sense, the Worth It stockholders have a home-court advantage in not only releasing their brand new single, but also the accompanying visual with it. We see the group honing in on an artistic perspective of a literal transition of the song's title to where after Normani writes on her skin, everything is put into perspective (the special effects were kinda bad, but it got better). Aside from the opening's technical cheesiness, the video eventually matched up to the song's chill and tropical house vibe in spotlighting the girl's front and center in a film noir sense. After hearing the girls belt the chorus a few times, you can't help but wanting to belt it out alongside them.

Though very simplistic, the femme five did all types of justice by this song in presenting it the way that they did. Is it a comparable banger to the likes of previous singles Work From Home or The Life? Debatable. Though I will say that thusfar, all of the tracks from their sophomore album have much more of a cohesive blend to it than their debut effort as it sampled multiple genres, which can be both a blessing and a curse.

Lyrically though, this song mirrors their opponents in being more sensual and sexy as they preach...

"write on me, color outside the lines, love the way you tat me up, baby take your time"

Though now that I think about it, it could be just literal and he could be just drawing on her with a pen...

So who won this battle?

Well before I announce the winner, I'd like to just congratulate both sides on their amazing efforts as both seem very promising and I know I'll definitely be placing my orders for my physical deluxe copies. Overall, these are both undoubtedly truly amazing songs. Also, a great theme in today's battle is not just about the two teams releasing their material within the same days and months and what not, but that also the music reflects a dramatic growth from the quirky teens they once were when they released their first tracks to the grown women that they are today, so that is a reward in itself.

But that's not what y'all came here for. You guys are thirsting for blood and clearly there's an obvious winner...

ARIANATORS!
(Duh!)

Though a little bias, in my opinion Miss Ariana Grande knocked out 5H before they even had a chance to contend, but that's just my opinion. (: If you disagree, make sure to sound off below!
